What exactly is dabbing?
Dabbing is the act of inhaling the smoke of cannabis extracts of plants in their concentrated form. The extracts can be derived from any part of the plant such as the leaves, stems, and the rest of the material which is usually eliminated prior to smoking. The careful method of extracting the oil from the plant usually requires propane or butane solvent, and should be left to the professionals to create a safer and higher high-quality product. It is not recommended for anyone who is not experienced to extract their own oils as injuries could be serious.
What are the primary concentrate forms?
Different extraction processes will create various forms of concentrate. The mechanical separation will produce a product in the form of dry sift or rosin while chemical solvents such as butane create “shatter”, “budder”, “sap”, or “crumble” depending on the temperature and pressure employed during the process. The latter is most commonly referred to as butane hash oils, also known as BHOs. Concentrates of these will have more THC and, consequently, produce more powerful effects than the typical smoking session. It’s like drinking whisky or drinking beer. It is less alcohol-based than whisky, which means you don’t need to drink the same amount of whisky to experience the same effects as a glass of beer. The same is true for whisky. it isn’t necessary to drink the entire amount of concentrate to experience the same effects of a smoked hit. Excessive consumption of a concentrate can cause negative reactions, therefore it is advised that a user begins with a tiny amount to learn how the concentrate can affect the user.
How do you apply the dab?
Dabbing requires many tools before getting started. You will need a rig for dabbing, typically comprised of a “nail”, a dome, and a mouthpiece. If you already own a water pipe might be able to swap around the attachments to create the dabbing rig. (For more information about pipe types, go here. )The nail has an end with a cup that is used to hold the concentrate as it is vaporizing from quality vaporizers, and the dome will catch the vapors and redirect them through the rig toward the mouthpiece. You will also need a small cooking torch to heat the nail with.
Once you have placed your tools in a safe area and selected the concentrate to use, you will heat the nail with your torch until it’s heated. If your nail material is glass or titanium, the excessive heat could cause burning or cracking of the concentrate. Therefore, it is best not to heat the equipment too much. Quartz is more resistant to heat and has less of a tendency to overheat. However, it also cools quickly which may hinder the entire concentrate from getting vaporized.
Once your nail is hot, you’ll need to place the concentrate onto the nail using the dabber or another small device. If your nail has domes, you’ll want to place the dome over the nail in a hurry to ensure that the liquids don’t go into the atmosphere. Some electronic nails come with an option to heat, which means it’s not necessary to burn them. It will draw the vapors back into the rig, negating the requirement for a dome. Once the vapors get to the mouthpiece, inhale and take a moment to enjoy. Remember to let the rig cool completely, including the nail and dome, before dismantling to wash.
